Krówka Bez Pieczenia (No-Bake Krówka)

Krówka is a beloved Polish candy that combines the sweetness of caramel with the rich flavor of condensed milk. Traditionally, it’s made by boiling sugar and milk until they form a soft, chewy toffee. However, this no-bake version simplifies the process, making it easier to create the same delicious treat without using a stove. Whether you’re craving a quick sweet snack or need a homemade gift, this easy Krówka recipe is the perfect solution.

Ingredients:

1 can (400g) sweetened condensed milk
100g unsalted butter
150g powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
250g digestive biscuits (or any plain biscuits)
50g chopped walnuts or hazelnuts (optional)
Pinch of salt
Directions:

Prepare the biscuits: Break the digestive biscuits into small pieces. You can crush them with a rolling pin or pulse them in a food processor to get a crumbly texture. Set them aside.
Melt the butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat until completely melted.
Mix the condensed milk: Add the sweetened condensed milk to the melted butter, stirring constantly. Let it simmer gently for about 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens slightly.
Add the sugar and vanilla: Stir in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Continue stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved, and the mixture is smooth.
Combine with biscuits: Add the crushed biscuits to the caramel mixture and stir to combine evenly. If you’re using nuts, fold them in at this stage.
Chill and set: Transfer the mixture to a lined baking dish or a square pan. Press it down firmly with a spoon to compact it. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
Cut into squares: Once chilled and firm, cut the Krówka into small squares or rectangles.
Serving and Storage Tips:

Serve the Krówka as bite-sized squares or rectangles for easy snacking.
Store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. If you plan to store it longer, you can freeze it for up to a month—just make sure to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil to prevent freezer burn.
Krówka can be enjoyed on its own, paired with a hot drink like tea or coffee, or even crumbled over desserts like ice cream.
Variations:

Chocolate Krówka: For a chocolate twist, melt some dark or milk chocolate and pour it over the set Krówka before refrigerating. You can also mix chocolate chips into the biscuit mixture.
Nut-Free Krówka: Omit the nuts if you prefer a smoother, biscuit-only treat.
Fruity Krówka: Add dried fruit, such as raisins or cranberries, for a fruity variation that adds extra texture and flavor.
